Preliminary Training in Internal Medicine has been a successful program for Senior Students primarily pursuing subspecialty training but also for those undecided on a categorical program choice. The year is composed as follows:

• 1 Month Medical Intensive Care Unit
• 1 Month Cardiovascular Medicine
• 4 Months Inpatient Medicine
• 1 Month ER
• 4-5 Months Electives

The year of training provides a good balance of exposure to the management of medical problems with a reasonable workload and respect for the individual.
