Services

St. Joseph Mercy Psychiatric Access provides evaluations for adults with mental health and chemical dependency problems and makes recommendations for ongoing care. Patients are either scheduled for an urgent evaluation at our Reichert Health Building office or are evaluated in the Emergency Department.

The department also makes admission arrangements for the ongoing psychiatric care of patients in the Emergency Department and those on medical units at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Patients are either admitted to one of our Behavioral Services programs or arrangements with other providers are made.

In addition to these services, staff provide social work services and information to Emergency Department patients and their families in situations where there has been sudden injury or illness, domestic violence, possible abuse or neglect, or where other emergency assistance is required.

Staff members are masters prepared mental health professionals.

Information, Referral and Scheduling

Urgent mental health assessments are scheduled within 24 business hours of request, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
