Joint Replacement

Hips, knees and shoulders are the largest joint systems in the body. Since they tend to get the most use, they are prone to injury and disease. They can also wear down with age. The most common reasons for joint replacement are to relieve joint pain, stiffness and improve mobility. Arthritis is the most frequent reason for total joint replacement.

If you have pain or stiffness in your hip, knee, shoulder or wrist, or have arthritis in these joints, you may be a candidate for the St. Joseph Mercy Total Joint Program. From the day you and your doctor decide you should have a new joint, to your final therapy session, you will receive exceptional service and compassionate care from our dedicated orthopedic treatment team. The program includes state-of-the-art operating rooms, and a comprehensive pre-operative total joint program. Most patients can expect a new joint to last 15 years or more, depending on a number of factors.

Hand Surgery

If you suffer from rheumatoid arthritic deformities, congenital and developmental abnormalities, trauma or a sports injury to the hand, wrist or forearm, our surgeons specialize in micro and reconstructive surgery of the hand and wrist.

Foot and Ankle

Most of us take walking for granted, but the system that allows us stand, walk, jog and jump is complex. Each foot has 26 bones, supported by three groups of ligaments. Muscles and tendons help more the foot and ankle. Ankle sprains, Achilles tendon injury, and overuse injuries are common foot and ankle injuries. Even improperly fitted shoes can damage your feet. If you suffer a severe fracture, you may need surgery. So if something goes wrong in a bone, muscle, ligament or tendon, you'll want the kind of specialized orthopedic care we offer at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.
