    St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is a 529-bed teaching hospital located on a 341-acre campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Sponsored by Catholic Health Ministries, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital has been named as a Top 100 Hospital and is at the forefront of many clinical specialty areas.

    Part-time, 48 hours per pay period, 12 hour, evening shifts.

    SUMMARY

    The Physician Assistant provides health care services under the direction of collaborating surgeons. Is responsible for directing and coordinating health care plan for the assigned patient population by performing physical examinations, conducting approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prescribing appropriate interventions and medications and collaborating with consulting physicians and health care professionals. 

    Applicants must be able to provide demonstrable experience working closely with surgeons on management of neuro-surgery, spine, ortho, ENT and urology including rounds, development and implementation of medical management plan, ongoing follow up of any patient care issues through out the day.

    Crosses continuum of care starting with pre-operative assessment and education, immediate post-op care and preparation for discharge.  Experience with Emergency Department is also required.  Works closely with nursing staff including ICU, progressive and general care. Works with other health care professionals such as therapies (PT/OT), Case management, Social Work and Pharmacy.

    The PA maintains the continuum of care through the coordination and integration of all phases of patient care using physician orders, progress notes, care plans, critical pathways, managed care guidelines, best practice protocols, evidenced based care, and the utilization review processes.

    EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

    Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program, NCCPA certification and a Current Michigan PA license.

    Two to three years of critical care experience are preferred.
