People who are infected with
HIV are much more likely to develop pneumonia. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends pneumococcal
vaccination for anyone infected with HIV. If it has been more than 5 years
since you have had a pneumococcal vaccination, one booster shot is recommended
to complete the vaccination series.
This vaccine does not protect against Pneumocystis pneumonia, a common disease in people who have
HIV.
