The recovery period after a vaginal delivery is usually shorter than
the recovery needed after a
cesarean delivery. The mother and baby can usually
leave the hospital a day or two after a vaginal delivery.
A cesarean delivery often requires a woman to spend 3 to 4 days in
the hospital followed by several weeks of limited activity as her abdominal
incision heals.
