NEW - The CyberKnife(r) Radiosurgery Center of Michigan is bringing
new options and hope to patients with cancer. We are the first and only hospital
in Michigan to have this revolutionary technology.
CyberKnife(r) uses the latest robotic radiosurgery, which combines image
guidance technology and computer controlled robotics. With this type of pinpoint
accuracy, our skilled physicians are now able to treat areas of the body, such
as the spine, lung, prostate, liver and pancreas.
And because it's non-invasive, treatments can be delivered in a single
or multiple visits, at the patient's convenience. What this means for
patients is no incisions or pain and minimal side effects.

Technology Forum.

Access to the Latest Clinical Trials
Our Cancer Centers are leading institutions in the Michigan Cancer Research Consortium, a well-established CCOP. This is one of only 50 programs in the country designated by the National Cancer Institute designed to connect patients to state-of-the-art cancer care in the communities where they live.
This special designation provides Saint Joseph Mercy cancer patients access to clinical trials of experimental cancer treatments normally only offered at major cancer centers, such as Mayo Clinic and MD Anderson.
Mayo Cancer Center in Rochester, Minnesota is our primary regional research base for clinical trials. Because of our unique affiliation, physicians, scientists and other cancer specialists from Mayo clinic are in regular contact with our physicians and researchers. In addition, the Michigan Cancer Research Consortium CCOP staff meet regularly with doctors and nurses from other parts of the United States to review current research and assist in the development of new clinical trials.
Sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, current trials include treatment studies from the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and the Mayo Clinic based North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG).
