Dear Physicians and Colleagues,
Since 1955, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System has been recognized as a major
teaching hospital, providing medical education and clinical research in a patient
care setting. From our early scientific work in the Surgical Research Laboratory
to the numerous clinical trials underway today in a variety of departments,
research has always been important to help provide the best possible care and
treatments for our patients.
In order for our clinicians to accomplish excellence in patient care, they
must have the ability to evaluate medical and surgical treatments through clinical
research trials. We fully support a research program that provides the necessary
environment to evaluate treatments and fosters decision-making under the paradigm
of evidence-based medicine. We understand that this work will ultimately result
in improved medical and surgical treatments for our patients and position our
organization at the forefront of leading-edge technology.
We are proud of the research activities and accomplishments of those involved
in research at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. We are pleased to present this
Clinical Research Report to highlight our many exceptional research physicians
and staff.
For nearly 50 years, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System has remained committed
to maintaining the highest standards in clinical research. We look forward to
witnessing a strong growth in research activities and are confident that these
efforts will contribute to the development of our medical knowledge and provide
our patients with the best possible medical outcomes.
